Jinagmao Tower is situated in the golden
area of Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone in Pudong New District, which
faces Huangpu River. JingmaoTower is invested, Constructed and administered
by Shanghai Foreign 
Trade
Center Stock Co. Ltd, and designed by Chicago SOM Architecture Office,
the total investment is around 540 million USD. Combined the elements
of traditional Chinese culture with the newest architectural styles of
that time, Jin Mao Tower is one of the best-constructed buildings in China
and it is the landmark building in 20th Century in Shanghai. With the
height of 420.5 meters, it is the third highest building in the world
and the highest building in China. The Tower covers an area of 23,000
square meters, with 3 stories underground, 88 stories above the ground
and 6-story skirt-shaped rooms which are used as the exhibition halls,
conference rooms, multi-function halls, grand banquet halls and a recreational
center. The gross floor area reaches 290,000 square meters. Within the
Tower, office floors are from the 3rd to the 50th floor, the 51st and
52nd floors are the mechanical and electrical facilities center, the 53rd
to 87th floors are reserved for the deluxe Grand Hyatt Hotel, the 86th
floor is a club for the hotel guests and the 87th floor is the hotel restaurant.
From 56th to 88th floor there is an atrium with the diameter of 27 meters.
The 88th-floor Sightseeing Hall, with the height of 340.1 meters and an
area of 1,520 square meters, the sightseeing hall is the largest one in
China at present. It is decorated luxuriously with the natural marbles.
Tourists may have a broad view of the grand metropolitan scenery along
the Huangpu River and the mouth of Yangtze through the glass curtain wall.
The two lifts running at 9.1 meters a second may take tourists from the
first floor to the 88th sightseeing hall within 45 seconds. There are
also five to six elevators every 10 floors, which reduce waiting-time
to 35 seconds even during rush hours.
Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, the central business
district (CBD) area in the Pudong District of Shanghai is a world-class
business district. Lujiazui has seen rapid development 
since
its inception in 1993. By 2002, 121 financial organizations had entered
the zone, including 56 foreign financial organizations and 43 foreign
banks. It is the most modern and prosperous area in Shanghai and China.
