Shanghai Museum located in the center of Shanghai in People's Square. The total area of the construction is around 39,000 square meters. The main building is 29 meters high with square base and dome that coincides with the concept of ancient Chinese people who believed the heaven was round and the earth was square. The museum houses over 120,000 pieces of cultural relics in 11 categories such as bronze ware, calligraphy, paintings, pottery, porcelain, Ming and Qing furniture, jade ware, stone carvings, ancient coins, silk embroidery, dyed fabrics, ivory sculptures, ethnic crafts, as well as relics unearthed in Shanghai.
