The Jade Buddha Temple , built in 1882, lies in the west of the center of Shanghai . Carving an area of 8400 square meters, the temple is famous for its two jade statues of Sakyamuni. One is in sitting position and the other is in reclining position. Both statues are of great artistic value and regarded as treasures of Buddhism in China .
