The voltage in China is 220V, 50 HZ. In most hotels' bathrooms, you can find an electric outlet for 110V but it is advisable to bring a transformer with you. Generally, there are two kinds of sockets in China, flat blade plug and V-shaped socket. If your plugs have different configurations, you will also need a plug adapter.
The tap water in China is undrinkable, even in the finest of hotels. Hotel room is often equipped with a water dispenser, which offers both cool and hot water. Some hotels rooms are equipped with a water heater, which you can use to boil tap water before drinking it. In some hotels, hot water is provided in a thermos in the guest room. Star rated hotels may supply high-quality bottle water for free.
